I'm starting to sound like a broken record. But I tell you friends, this last Thursday's show was as good as it gets. (I say that, and yet the artists and their performances keep amazing me, week after week) Such was the case this last Thursday, at THE EIGHTH-NOTE (May 11th). Those of you who were there know exactly what i mean. Those of you who couldn't make it, I can only say you missed one HELL of a show. (but she'll be back again) Miss Kim Kalesti was brilliant! Again! Even better than her first performance back in March, as if that were possible. My love affair with this artist is as genuine as it is gushing. Kim Kalesti is the "REAL DEAL", singing some fun good natured bebop tunes as well as some standards and some stunning ballads, with such HONESTY and beauty. She is a "natural". And her Trio was as tight as it gets, with Bruce Cox on Drums, Marco Panescia on bass, and the ever talented Saul Rubin on guitar. Now, the sets with Kim and the band on their own would have been plenty, but there were to be treats in store for us. the LEGENDARY Frank Lacy
showed up with his trombone and swung (and SUNG) two AMAZING numbers with Kim and the band. I, for one, was in AWE!! Thank You, Kim. We love you dearly at the Eighth-note.
